• What are your rates?

Sessions start at $440. Most clients invest around $1200 once hairstyling/makeup and retouching has been factored in. Please see this page for detailed information about rates.

    Do you offer any discounts?

Discounts are available for returning clients and for clients who book in groups of two or more.

    Do you offer payment plans?

    Not at this time.

    Do you offer gift certificates?

Yup! Head here to purchase gift certificates.

Someone gave me a gift certificate for a session that is no longer available- what do I do!?

Don't worry! Simply contact me and we'll get it sorted out. Either we'll have you book a current session type and add/subtract time or looks to make it equivalent, or I may have an old booking link that will allow you to set up a session that's no longer accessible from the current page. Either way, your gift certificate is still valid for whatever its cash value was at the time of purchase.

How do I pay for my session?

Every session requires a nonrefundable $100 retainer to hold your appointment time. This retainer will be applied towards the total cost of your session. The remaining amount is due on the day of your shoot, and can be paid (in order of preference) with check, (made out to Nile Scott Studios) cash, credit/debit, Venmo, PayPal, or online invoice. Payment is always due before any images are delivered.

(If you've hired a makeup artist/hairstlyist, their fee is separate from the cost of photography. They prefer cash, check, credit/debit, or Venmo.)

    What about tipping?

Generally, the photographer does not receive a tip; I will make every effort to refuse tips if they're offered. The makeup artist/hairstylists, however, graciously accept tips in any amount.

    Are you vaccinated against Covid-19?

Heck yeah, got my second Moderna shot in late April of 2021, and my Moderna booster in November 2021. All of the makeup artists and hairstylists on my team are fully vaccinated as well. Go science!

Do you require that I am vaccinated against Covid-19?

No, but I sure hope you are!

When are you available to shoot?

I shoot in Cambridge on Mondays and Fridays, and in Providence on Wednesdays. I usually get started around 9:30 or 10AM and wrap up around 6PM, though we may shoot later if needed. I offer up to two weekend days per month, and never shoot on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

    Where are your studios?

The Cambridge studio is near the intersection of Rt. 2 and Massachusetts Ave, just a little northwest of Davis Square. The Providence Studio is at the Rooms & Works complex in the West End of Providence.

Is there parking at the studios?

Both studios have free, readily available off-street parking, though parking in Cambridge, while guaranteed for your car, is limited to two spots.

    How soon can I book?

I recommend booking at least a month in advance to give yourself time to prepare for your session, find and try out outfits, and make sure your hair/beard/etc is cut/trimmed/styled to your liking.

How soon will I have the photos?

I’ll be sending a gallery of processed images within two weeks of your shoot date. Retouching has a one-week turnaround, though orders of more than three retouched photos at once will take as long as two weeks. If you have an urgent need for your initial gallery, please purchase the quick turnaround option as an add-on. If you have urgent need for both your initial gallery and retouched headshot, please add the “headshot emergency” add-on to your booking.

How do I book a shoot?

All sessions can be self-booked- I trust you’ll do your research and choose the one that’s the best fit for your needs. If, based on the answers in your intake form, it looks like you may not have made the best choice, I’ll reach out ASAP to get you in the right spot.

What if there are no available times that work with my schedule?

Due to high demand and parenting obligations, my schedule is pretty much what it looks like. You can, however, always ask if there are any last-minute openings or alternate times, though chances are slim that this will be the case. (If you’re looking at times in Cambridge, make sure and check the Providence calendar, and vice versa.)

How many shoots do you do in a day?

In order to make sure my clients receive the attention they deserve and have the time they need for a successful session, I usually only shoot one or two sessions per day, occasionally three. The way things time out, it is very rare you will see another client, and assuming you’ve picked the right session for your needs, will never be rushed out the door or made to feel like we’re running out of time.

    Do you photograph non-actors?

Yes! While obviously so much of my marketing and portfolio is actor-centric, I very much enjoy working with musicians, entrepreneurs, professionals, creatives, small businesses, and more. The pricing and booking process for non-actors is completely different from that for actors, however, so please check out this page to get started!

    Do you require a deposit/retainer?

Yes. All sessions must be reserved with a $100, non-refundable retainer. This amount will be applied towards the cost of photography and is subtracted from your session balance.

    Can I reschedule my shoot?

Yes, but we highly discourage it. You may reschedule your shoot one time for any reason with no penalty, though considering demand you may need to push your shoot back eight weeks or more. Should your second session need to be rescheduled, a new $100, non-refundable retainer will be required to reserve your new time, and you will be required to pay any hair/makeup artist assigned to your shoot in full. Should you need to reschedule a third time, you will be required to pay for the entire session plus any applicable hair and makeup fees in full before your new time can be held; this amount is non-refundable. Exceptions to this policy may be made on a case-by-case basis if the rescheduling occurs more than three weeks in advance of your shoot, in the event of symptomatic illness, inclement weather, or other true emergencies.

    Can I cancel my shoot?

Sure- things happen, plans change, I totally understand. Your deposit, while nonrefundable, will likely be able to be applied to a future booking a year or more from now if reasonable. My one request is that you don't ghost me- if you really don't think you'll make it into the studio anytime soon, please let me know! No hard feelings, I just want to make sure your session is truly cancelled and not in limbo.

Will YOU ever ask me to reschedule?

Sometimes I may ask you if you are able to move your shoot to a different time or day for various logistic or personal reasons, but there is no obligation if you are unable to do so. If I or the hair/makeup artist experience a dire family, weather, or medical emergency, we will let you know with as much advance notice as possible and will work to quickly find a new time for your shoot.

    What if I’m running late?

Obviously, try not to be late. Minor delays (like, 15 minutes max) can generally be worked around, but anything more will seriously cut into your session time. If you’re going to be more than 15 minutes late, we can either carry on and shoot what may feel like a rushed session, or you can reschedule to another available date (the latter option will require a new retainer to be paid and for any applicable hair and makeup fees to be paid in full before a new session can be booked.)

    What if YOU’RE running late?

Traffic happens- I may sometimes be behind too. If you’ve hired a hair/makeup artist, I might end up being 10-30 minutes later to the session than you, depending on setup needs and how much time hair/makeup may take. It’s nothing personal- I just sometimes find myself waiting around for quite a while while hair and makeup is finishing up. If I’m running late and it will significantly cut into our session time, I will let you know as quickly as possible and we will work together to find a solution that makes sense for both of us.

It’s a week before our session and I just got a terrible haircut/huge zit/bruised my face/haven’t slept at all!

If you have not yet rescheduled your session once already, you may do so one time with no penalty. However, I would advise you to be highly cautious in general with what you plan around your shoot - try and stay hydrated the week before, maybe hang up the skateboard and avoid pizza and chocolate. Obviously I would hate to photograph you when you’re looking or feeling rough, but hopefully we can avoid these incidents with foresight and caution.

Can we chat before I book?

Sure! I am happy to set up a phone call before you book, and encourage everyone to reach out to get a feel for whether I seem like someone with whom you'd enjoy spending time. Video and/or in-person consultations can be purchased as an add-on during and after booking.

    What’s up with your dog?

Odin the Whoodle (Wheaten Terrier/Poodle mix) is a very good boy and loves coming to the studio! He is hypoallergenic, extremely friendly, and once he stops jumping all over for a minute or so, will curl up on the floor and watch us work. There is an option to request that he grace us with his presence, though there are no guarantees he’ll always be with me. Of course, if you’d rather he not be there for any reason, that’s totally fine.

I LOVE your studios- can I rent them?

Absolutely! All three are set up as rental spaces. Please see this page for more information on Allston, and this one for Providence. Cambridge can be booked via Peerspace here. If you are a New England theatre maker/artist and are highly flexible with your timing, feel free to reach out about using either space and equipment for self-tapes, rehearsals, and more at a free or discounted rate!

  • What are my options for shooting with you?

I offer two session types which should cover most actors’ needs: The Headshot, and the Mini Session. The Headshot is six looks, the Mini Session is two looks. These sessions ONLY include waist-up/chest-up headshots. You may choose to purchase a basic full-length setup as an add-on.

    Define “basic full length”

We’ll set up a roll of white or colored paper or shoot against a wall. One outfit, nothing too personalized or editorial. (For more complex full-body setups/editorial photos, please head here.)

    What’s a “look” ?

A look constitutes a major change in clothing, lighting, backdrop, hair/makeup or any combination of these elements. For example, changing from a suit and tie into a t-shirt and jeans is a look change. However, small changes like putting on glasses or removing a jacket do not count as looks.

    What’s The Headshot

This shoot is perfect for folks focusing on film/tv/commercial work, and/or for stage actors who are not the most comfortable being photographed. We’ll aim for six looks over a maximum of four hours, including hair and makeup.

    What about the Mini Headshot?

This one is great for experienced actors just looking for a quick update, stage actors who are comfortable on camera, BFA-bound high school seniors, and kids. We’ll get one or two really quick outfit changes in a single lighting setup.

When can I book the Mini Headshot?

The mini session can be booked between 10AM-6PM on Mondays and Fridays in Cambridge, or on Wednesdays in Providence. It can only be booked three weeks in advance, as I do my best to keep minis adjacent to existing sessions.

    Which one should I book?

It depends on how much variety you need and how comfortable you are on-camera. The Mini Session will be short and could feel rushed if you’re not prepared and not able to quickly settle into being photographed. The length of The Headshot allows for more pre-shoot conversation and freedom in our lighting choices.

What’s the difference between the studios?

Both the Cambridge and Providence studios are large, climate-controlled, welcoming, spacious, clean, and comfortable, and offer private changing, makeup/hair stations, and client seating areas. There are restrooms and drinking water available. Both are easily accessible from major highways, with easy parking, good food, and coffee a short walk away from each. Both studios are full of interesting environmental features, varied textures and light sources, and are loaded with top-of-the-line lighting, equipment, and backdrops to make a huge variety of portraits.

While I am confident that almost any photo in my portfolio can be replicated at both studios, they do have very different aesthetics. The Providence space has very high ceilings, and a rough, industrial vibe with cooler tones, lots of incandescent light, and concrete floors. The Cambridge studio has a different feel, with painted concrete floors, and modern, clean furniture and decor. The Providence studio receives direct sunlight in the morning, and Cambridge has a huge west-facing door for gorgeous sunsets. Both spaces have large sections of white-painted brick or plaster walls.

Both are located in urban/industrial parts of their respective cities, so outdoor photos will feel fairly similar near each.

The Providence studio is on the second floor of a renovated factory and does not offer elevator access. Please let me know if this presents an accessibility issue, and we will make every effort to get you some amazing headshots, whether it means shooting outside, moving the shoot to Cambridge, or bringing the studio to you.

As Providence is where I live, the pricing for the Headshot is slightly less expensive there. If you’re not sure which location to choose, I’m always happy to answer any specific questions you may have about the features of each space.

Should I shoot indoors or outdoors?

While I think outdoor headshots can be spectacular when weather and lighting conditions are perfect, I vastly prefer shooting indoors. I have selected and built out both of my studios so that I have the ability to provide the blurred background look of an outdoor photo inside. Additionally, I find that outdoor headshots provide less of an opportunity to tell a story in a photo, particularly for screen actors. All that said, if you really do want to shoot outside, I’m always up for it, but will be honest about whether the current climate and light will be conducive to good results.

How do you help me prepare for the shoot?

If you book The Headshot or the Mini Session without add-ons, you’re welcome to book a phone call or two to go over what to expect and how to prepare. You can also email or text anytime with questions.

A pre-shoot virtual or in-person meeting can be very helpful, but this is only available as a paid add-on.

    What’s up with retouching?

Retouching is not included with any sessions, unless you purchase the hair and makeup addon. Complimentary retouched photos must be chosen within two weeks of the gallery delivery date. Retouched photos may be purchased at any time for $60-$200/image.

  • Why should I book a session with Nile Scott Studios?

I have nearly a decade of experience photographing performing artists and other humans from all walks of life, across a broad range of age, race/ethnicity, gender identity, and more. I care deeply about this work, and strive to make sure that every client walks away with at least one ASTONISHING photo of themselves that will serve them professionally and personally for years. My favorite two post-session feedback are “I usually hate headshots and that was actually really fun!” and “I never knew I could look this good on camera!” I love acting and actors, and genuinely want to see my fellow storytellers be given every opportunity to be seen and heard on stage and screen, and understand just how important a great headshot is when pursuing those opportunities. If you’re not an actor, I still am so excited to meet you, hear your story, and help bring that story to life through my work.

How should I prepare for my shoot?

Most importantly, READ EVERYTHING. This website, as well as the websites of many other headshot photographers, casting directors, and educational resources, feature pages and pages of information about how to approach a headshot session. I’m available to chat via phone before you book (set up a call here), and you can also purchase a virtual or (maybe) in-person meeting before our shoot if you feel it would be helpful.

How many clothes should I bring?

I would highly advise against coming in with too few choices- if we're doing a six look session and you bring three shirts, we're going to have a tough time making the most of it. Conversely, please do not pack your entire closet- bringing say, twenty or thirty or more choices to a six look shoot is overwhelming and we'll waste a lot of time managing clothes.

The best way to make sure you're making the right amount of clothing choices is to plan ahead- definitely take advantage of the opportunity to speak with me before our shoot so we can strategize about hitting the sweet spot between 'too many choices' and 'not enough.'.

    What about glasses? Jewelry?

If you do really wear glasses IRL, I'd bring them - they can be great for character looks and for adding variety to the shoot. We'll do a couple of test shots with them to check for glare; if it looks like they're going to be a problem we can either pop out the lenses if you're comfortable with that, or you can use one of a few pairs of lensless glasses I keep onsite.

Feel free to bring jewelry, hats, accessories, and more, especially for film/tv/commercial shoots. I am always totally fine with any of those pieces, assuming they help reinforce the story of the photo and they're not incredibly distracting.

Should I bring a steamer? What about a lint roller?

Nope! I have great steamers at both studios as well ample pieces of anti-lint technology.

Do your sessions have a time limit? How do you know when we’re done?

This is a hard one- there are those can jump in front of a camera and absolutely nail amazing headshots in five minutes, but in my experience, that’s a very small percentage of the folks who shoot with me. Some people need lots of conversation and coaching, some love a fast-paced whirlwind of variety, some know that the longer they shoot, the less comfortable they become. Whoever you might be, I hope that you’ve taken the time to review my session offerings, and have chosen the one that realistically suits your comfort level and goals. On the low end, your shoot could take fifteen minutes- that’s all an experienced person will need to capture two looks in the Mini Headshot. On the high end, we could be in the studio for as long as six hours- if you have lots of looks and each needs a hair and makeup change, it could be a long day! On average, I would say the majority of sessions take between one and two hours.

Can I bring people/pets to my session?

I guess, but I’m really not a fan of this. Unless the person coming with you is also being photographed, I find that friends/partners/parents either end up making clients feel self-conscious, and/or sitting in the corner on their phones. Pets are allowed, but again - they’ll probably just end up napping while we shoot, or worse get in the way. That said, if you really feel you have to bring a “comfort animal/human” to feel relaxed in the session, you may do so.

Of course, if you are under 18, I do request that your parent/guardian be present at the shoot if possible. They do not have to help or participate, and there is ample comfortable seating and free WiFi available.

Can we listen to music during the shoot?

Yes please! Both studios are outfitted with Sonos speakers, and I subscribe to Apple Music, so most songs and artists you’d like to hear will be available. You’re also welcome to bring your own device and connect it for your playlist(s) of choice.

    What about snacks/drinks/adult beverages?

I don’t generally keep anything except for water and sugar-free Red Bull in stock at the studios (both of which you are welcome to), but feel free to bring anything you’d like to help get you through the shoot. It’s not that I don’t want to provide snacks; I used to keep a stash of treats and clients didn’t really eat them, so I just ended up eating way more chips and cookies than I should have.

If you’re over 21, a couple of drinks can sometimes help with nerves, and it is fine with me if you want to partake before or during the session.

  • How many photos do you take in a session?

Short answer: A LOT. Like usually 200+ per look. You won’t see all of them, probably not even half, but my strategy is to just keep shooting and shooting so that the shutter becomes background noise and we capture every little shift of your posture and microexpression.

How will I receive my photos?

Once the keepers have been selected and the processing is complete, I’ll send the photos in a beautiful, shareable, easy-to-use online gallery from which you can download both web and high resolution files, create collections of favorites, and purchase prints and retouching.

How long will my gallery be active?

You will have access to your gallery for six months after receiving it. You will receive a notification once it is going to be removed from my servers; you may request a one-time extension of one week in order to download your images.

    What’s “processing”

Remember that big pile of photos I took? After I take out blurry or blinky or just plain bad ones (and some redundancies too), I will load them into my favorite software (Lightroom, for the curious) and perform global adjustments to each photo. This isn’t a slow and methodical look at every detail of an image- it’s more a quick “check” to be sure the photo is ready to show to the world. While I might do some precise corrections if the error is something I missed (a rip in a background, say, or a dust spot on the lens), I won’t be doing any detailed work here- no logo removals or stray hair fixes or makeup corrections. (That stuff all gets saved for retouching.)

    What’s “retouching”

Retouching is the next step after processing. It’s a close scrutiny of an individual photo, making precise local edits and looking out for any potential distractions, temporary imperfections, color discrepancies between different areas of the photo, and much more. This can take one or two hours per photo. Retouching can be purchased for any photo, but is only included as a complimentary offering if makeup/hair is purchased as an addon. If you purchase hair/makeup, one complimentary retouched photo is included with your session. This included retouched photo must be chosen within two weeks of your gallery being delivered or it will no longer be free. Additional retouched images can be purchased starting at $60/image.

There are so many amazing options in my gallery- how do I pick the right one for retouching?

This is a pretty complicated topic, and probably needs its own article. Your "best" headshot is determined by so many factors- what market you're in, your type(s), and much much more.

I'd start by narrowing down your gallery with a quick pass, just following your gut and picking as many as are appealing to you. Once you have that list, take your time and whittle it down to between ten and thirty options, maybe more if you have more looks.

Then, share that small collection with (in this specfic order):

    your representation,

    casting directors/directors,

    your coaches/teachers/professors,

    your castmates,

    your second-best friends,

    your best friends,

    your siblings,

    your significant other,

    and your immediate family.

That order also represents whose thoughts and feedback are useful, from most to least - your immediate family is generally not going to be super objective at picking a headshot, while people who can cast you or are representing you will be incredibly helpful with telling you what photo feels the most like "you" and the most marketable in whatever media you are working.

(Your own opinion, after the first pass-through, is, I believe, basically worthless. We really don't know what we look like outside of the mirror, and often our vanity and spotty self-conception gets in the way of choosing an authentic photo.)

If you would like me to review your photos with you immediately following the shoot and help narrow down the gallery, I offer this service as a paid add-on.

How much retouching can you do? Will you make me look younger/thinner/curvier/muscular etc?

While there’s virtually no limit to what Photoshop can do in the right hands, I tend to discourage my clients from going too far into “airbrushed” territory. I also highly discourage any digital changes to a part of your face/body that will not change significantly in the next two to five years. A pimple, for example, is temporary and should be removed. A high hairline or droopy eyelid or less-than-chiseled jawline is a part of your face, and your face is what casting directors are looking to see when they call you in to audition, Hopefully the lighting and posing we did in the studio will have gotten you looking amazing on camera and you won’t feel the need to make any huge changes. That said, if you really feel that this kind of “transformative” retouching is what you need, I will work with you to make it happen, albeit at a higher price than the standard retouching.

Also, be aware that while retouching is important for eliminating distractions and making sure your essence really comes through in the photo, that many of these photos will never be viewed in large-format print, and digitally will rarely be seen in a size bigger than a playing card. Keep that in mind before you break out the magnifying glass and scrutinize every pore!

    How much does retouching cost?

For basic retouching, which is what virtually all of my actor clients should be purchasing, it is $60/image. This includes local color and exposure correction, removal of temporary blemishes, stray hair removal, minor skin softening/wrinkle reduction, teeth whitening, and removal/adjustment of any distracting elements in the image. Advanced retouching is $85/image, and encompasses all of the above plus special requests like facial shaping, double-chin reduction, background color changes, and other extraordinary adjustments. Tip: complimentary retouching for up to two images is included with the hair and makeup addon!

    How long does retouching take?

It should take less than a week for me to send proofs for up to three retouched images. Purchasing more than three retouched images at once may take additional time past a week.

What if I need a photo retouched like, NOW?

There is the option to purchase rush retouching for $200/image. If I am unable to complete this order within 24 hours, I will let you know immediately and refund the money.

Can I retouch the photos myself?

Absolutely not. I do not permit clients to edit or alter the images in any way, with the exception of cropping to fit print and screen ratios. While it might be good enough for an Instagram story, FaceTune is not Photoshop, and I take great pride in how my work is shown to the world. I can almost always tell when one of my photos has been poorly retouched, and will not hesitate to ask you to remove it/untag me from a shared post.

Can I see the retouching you do before you send the final files?

Absolutely! All retouched images will be sent as low-resolution proofs, which you can take your time reviewing before I format them for print. You’re welcome to request rollbacks or revisions until you’re satisfied with the final result.

Will you put a name or border on my photos?

Sure! All retouching includes this service once you approve the final versions. If you’d like me to format a processed photo or two for you, just ask and if I have the time to do it I’ll be happy to help out.

What is the industry standard for formatting/printing?

For in-person auditions, headshots are expected to be 8x10", with a resume stapled to the back. Portrait (vertical) orientation is slightly preferable to landscape (horizontal) orientation, though no one will kick you out of an audition for having a horizontal headshot.

As far as whether the photo has a border, where your name is placed, the font, etc., as long as the name is on the front, is legible, and the photo is 8x10, that's up to you.

Be sure and pay attention to any specific formatting requests whenever you're submitting headshots, but don't worry too much about these details for general use.

    Do you print headshots?

Nah. While you can order prints from your online gallery, they’re printed by a third party and not by me.

Where do I print the photos?

Honestly, even before Covid-19 upended the world of in-person auditions, I would have told you that printing shouldn’t be a huge concern. More and more casting channels are going all-digital these days, and with the pandemic making germaphobes of us all, I have a feeling that we may soon see the end of printed headshots altogether. However, should you want to print your shots, I’d recommend mpix. Unfortunately, with the closing of Reproductions due to Covid-19, there are no longer any dedicated headshot printing companies on the East Coast.

Do you offer the option to reshoot if I am unhappy with my photos?

At this time, I have no official reshoot policy, as we have rarely, if ever, have had to reshoot a session. I hope that between your preparation and my expertise, transparency, and collaboration at every point in our time together, every client will be completely satisfied with the experience and results.

  • Should I hire a makeup artist?

YES. Every person with a face should bring one of my favorite makeup artists in to help with their shoot. They know my lighting, they know great makeup, and they really take everyone’s photos to the next level. They’re also really lovely and professional people who bring another element of fun and energy to the room! (Also, hair and makeup includes free retouching- what a deal!)

Who are your makeup and hair artists?

I work with a number of local professionals, all of whom are lovely people who are very experienced with on-camera makeup and hair for all age ranges, races/ethnicities, and gender identities. I will assign one to your shoot based on availability; if you would like to know who they are and speak with them before your session, please let me know and I can put you in touch.

    How much does it cost?

Hair and makeup starts at $240 for one look, or $390 for the HMUA to stay for the entire shoot and help with multiple looks.

Why do I need to hire a hair/makeup artist for free retouching?

Honestly, I just want to incentivize using my hair and makeup team. They’re so good, and really bring the results of the shoot to the next level. Also, I have found that some clients use retouching in place of hair and makeup, which is significantly more work for me and does not usually yield good results.

I can still get retouching without hair and makeup, right?

Of course! You’re welcome to purchase as many retouched photos as you’d like.

    Can I do it myself?

I don’t require that clients hire our makeup artists, but I really hope they do. Even if you’re a pro at knowing your own face, it is incredibly helpful to have an outside eye who is trained and accustomed to my lighting and shooting style.

Can I bring in my own MUA?

Yes, but I don’t recommend it, for the same reasons outlined above. Please let me know well in advance in your email communications if you’d like to have your makeup artist present at the shoot. Bringing your own HMUA does NOT add any time to our shoot, so please plan accordingly and keep your look changes brief. Also, if you are using your own MUA, I ask that the first look be applied off-site and not at the studio so you can arrive 95% camera ready.

Do your makeup artists have experience with my skin/hair?

Probably- my team has had successful shoots with people of all races, ethnicities, genders, ages, and more. Their kits cover the spectrum of skin tones, and they know how to work with all textures and types of hair. That said, you are always welcome to inquire about a portfolio of their work, and/or speak with them about your individual needs as a client.

    Can I wear wigs/extensions/false eyelashes/colored contacts/etc?

I guess so, but I really don’t recommend it, unless these are things you apply/wear daily. Headshots (at least for actors) aren’t a great place to try and look any different than you can look at your natural best- if the person in the picture doesn’t match the person in the room, casting directors will be pretty upset and may not call you in for another audition.

I sometimes have a beard- can I shave/trim during my shoot?

Yes, and if you do this, I would HIGHLY recommend having the hair and makeup artist stay for the duration of the shoot. (This option is not available with the Mini Headshot.) Also, while the hair and makeup artist will help correct redness and other post-shave problems, they will NOT be shaving you, nor will they be supplying shaving cream, razors, etc.

How much time does hair and makeup take?

We allot 30-90 minutes for initial hair and makeup; this varies depending on desired level of makeup, length/thickness of hair, and many other factors.

Does hair and makeup cut into shoot time?

You’ll be at the studio longer for sure, but it won’t take away from the time we’d spend with the camera.

Do I need to bring my own products?

Nope! You’re certainly welcome to - if you have personal favorites that you want to use, feel free to bring them, but the hair and makeup folks have everything they need in their kits.
